Sporopollenin Exine Microcapsules as Potential Intestinal Delivery System of Probiotics

چکیده

Despite several decades of research into encapsulation bacteria, most the proposed technologies are in form immobilized cultures. In this work, sporopollenin exine capsules (SECs) opened, using silica particles which act as pressing micro-probes, and loaded with Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) cells, described for first time. The provided ?30× higher yield (30.87%), compared to direct compression SECs (0.99%). Encapsulated L. cells show 1.21- 2.25-folds viability free vitro simulated fasted fed media representing human gastrointestinal (GI) tract, respectively. can proliferate inside SECs, generating enough pressure cause burst release viable metabolically active cells. noticeable difference application a means is that may bioreactor provide time encapsulated multiply thousands times before being released, following SEC's burst. unique advantages alongside method, demonstrates potential delivery system probiotics distal part GI tract.

Eco-friendly streamlined process for sporopollenin exine capsule extraction

Sporopollenin exine capsules (SECs) extracted from Lycopodium clavatum spores are an attractive biomaterial possessing a highly robust structure suitable for microencapsulation strategies. Despite several decades of research into SEC extraction methods, the protocols commonly used for L. clavatum still entail processing with both alkaline and acidolysis steps at temperatures up to 180 °C and la...

Inflated Sporopollenin Exine Capsules Obtained from Thin-Walled Pollen

Sporopollenin is a physically robust and chemically resilient biopolymer that comprises the outermost layer of pollen walls and is the first line of defense against harsh environmental conditions. The unique physicochemical properties of sporopollenin increasingly motivate the extraction of sporopollenin exine capsules (SECs) from pollen walls as a renewable source of organic microcapsules for ...

Utilization of the intestinal tract as a delivery system for urogenital probiotics.

Orally consumed viable bacteria with proposed beneficial health effects, the so-called probiotics, are increasingly used to treat disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. It has been recently suggested that specifically selected lactobacilli could have a therapeutic role in female urogenital tract infections. It has been also suggested that some of these bacteria could be not intravaginally ins...

Ultrastructural characterization of exine development of the transient defective exine 1 mutant suggests the existence of a factor involved in constructing reticulate exine architecture from sporopollenin aggregates.

A male-sterile mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana, in which filament elongation was defective although pollen fertility was normal, was isolated by means of T-DNA tagging. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis revealed that primexine synthesis and probacula formation, which are thought to be the initial steps of exine formation, were defective, and that globular sporopollenin aggregation ...

Hollow Pollen Shells to Enhance Drug Delivery

Pollen grain and spore shells are natural microcapsules designed to protect the genetic material of the plant from external damage. The shell is made up of two layers, the inner layer (intine), made largely of cellulose, and the outer layer (exine), composed mainly of sporopollenin. The relative proportion of each varies according to the plant species. The structure of sporopollenin has not bee...
